A Center of Excellence
For Enlarged Prostate Treatment

Enlarged prostate is extremely common among men as they age. As the normally walnut-sized organ grows, it begins to obstruct the bladder. This causes symptoms that are at best a nuisance and at worst can lead to medical emergency. At Austin Urology Institute we have an unrivaled suite of solutions to deal with prostates of all sizes.

What Is BPH?

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as enlarged prostate, can lead to numerous lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). These symptoms may include frequent urination, weaker flow, dribbling, or waking up at night to go. BPH is a common urological condition caused by the non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland in aging men. The prostate is a reproductive organ that produces ejaculatory fluid. It’s typically the size of a walnut… until time takes a toll.

As the prostate enlarges, it can squeeze down on the urethra. This process, known as bladder outlet obstruction (BOO), not only causes issues with urination, but can do serious harm to the bladder if left unchecked.

More Options Give You the Best Option

The Austin Urology Institute is a leading provider in enlarged prostate treatments. We offer more options, greater expertise, and high end facilities.

Urolift

The UroLift is a permanent device preventing the prostate from blocking the urethra. It’s the only BPH treatment that doesn’t require any cutting or heating. Patients come home quicker, without a catheter, and recover faster overall.

HoLEP

For very large prostates, Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) is the only minimally-invasive solution that can reduce the prostate’s size while drastically cutting down recovery time and effect on sexual function.

TURP

Certain cases of enlarged prostate require a surgical solution. Trans-urethral Resection of the Prostate uses high definition cameras to visualize the prostate, and then uses plasma-vaporization or electro-currents to remove the obstructing tissue.
