Trimix Penile Injections

Description

Trimix is a form of erectile dysfunction treatment that comes in the form of a penile injection. The medication works by relaxing the smooth muscle and opening the blood vessels in your penis, causing an erection. The injection is self-administered and can be taken 5-15 minutes before sexual activity.

  • Going a long time without an erection can be unhealthy. Having erections keep erectile tissue healthy.
  • Trimix should always be stored in the refrigerator away from light.
  • Your urologist will review the instructions with you, and may even provide training sessions to assist you through it all.

Avoid the following medications before and after injecting Trimix and discuss with your physician or urologist about any other prescriptions you might be taking.

  • Sildenafil
  • Vardenafil
  • Avanafil
  • Tadalafil

Trimix Injection Instructions

Trimix is often considered the most powerful class of erectile dysfunction treatment. Trimix is made of Papaverine, Phentolamine, Prostaglandin E1, all of which serve different medical purposes but together, are a formidable treatment for ED.

This method tends to be the go-to treatment when conventional PDE5 inhibitors such as Viagra or Cialis are contraindicated or nonresponsive.

Papaverine – also known as a vasodilator, this drug causes blood vessels to expand and increases blood flow to the penis.

Phentolamine – While elevating cardiac output, Phentolamine induces erections by relaxing and dilating the blood vessels of the penis.

Prostaglandin E1 – This hormone-like substance relaxes the penis’ blood vessels and dilates cavernosal arteries to induce erections. This is also accompanied by an increase in arterial inflow velocity and venous outflow resistance which leads to more blood into the penis and less blood out.
