Vacuum Erection Device

Description

A vacuum constriction device (VCD), also known as a “penis pump,” is an external pump that men use to achieve and maintain erections. The device contains an acrylic cylinder with a pump that is attached to the end of the penis which helps men become erect. A constriction ring or cylinder is placed at the other end, which is used to maintain the erection.

  • Studies suggest that 50%-80% have been satisfied with VCDs as a form of erectile dysfunction treatment.
  • VCDs should not be used by men who have a significant congenital bleeding disorder or anything that predisposes them to priapism (a prolonged, sometimes painful erection lasting over several hours).
  • A black and blue mark or small area of bruising may appear on the penis, although it is usually painless and resolves itself in a few days.

Full Instructions

  • Place the pump, which can be pumped by hand or run on batteries, over the penis.
  • Pump the air out of the cylinder so that a vacuum is created. The vacuum draws blood into the shaft of the penis and causes it to swell and become erect.
  • Once the penis is erect, with the help of lubricant, slide the retaining band down onto the lower end of the penis.
  • Remove the pump after releasing the vacuum.
