Low Testosterone Means Low Energy

June 3, 2013

Have you been experiencing low energy, decreased sex drive, or depressed mood for a significant period of time? These could be signs and symptoms of low testosterone. Testosterone is a hormone responsible for many important functions such as sperm production, energy, mood, sexual arousal, and the building of muscle mass, to name a few. Low testosterone affects about 40% of men over the age of 45.

As men age, their levels of testosterone may decrease. Increasingly people are mentally, physically, and sexually active much later in life than their parents or grandparents ever were.

If you think you may be dealing with low-t, contact your doctor to get your testosterone levels checked. This is simply done through a blood test. While testosterone may be the cause of your symptoms, it is recommended that you get a yearly physical and routine labs done to rule out any other causes that may be mimicking these symptoms.
