Vasectomies and Sexual Performance

August 18, 2023

Hey there! I’m Alex, a nurse practitioner at the Austin Urology Institute, here to answer a common question about vasectomies and sexual performance. Something we hear often is “So, I’ve had a vasectomy. Does that mean I will last longer in bed?”

Well, the short answer is that a vasectomy doesn’t directly affect your sexual performance or endurance. It simply stops the release of sperm during ejaculation, so you can still achieve an erection and reach orgasm as usual. Some guys might feel more relaxed and confident after getting a vasectomy, which could lead to better sex and longer-lasting sessions. Knowing that you don’t have to worry about unwanted pregnancies can take some of the pressure off so you can focus on the task at hand.

Of course, there are many factors that can affect your sexual performance, such as stress, fatigue, diet, exercise, and underlying health conditions. If you’re experiencing any issues in the bedroom, it’s a good idea to talk to us here at Austin Urology Institute. We can help you identify any underlying causes and suggest appropriate treatments or lifestyle changes.
