Urinary Tract Infections

Read a great article about how there is increasing resistance to powerful antibiotics, mainly through over-use of medications for urinary tract infections.  At the Austin Urology Institute, we use a thorough, extensive process looking at the kidneys, ureters, and bladder for sources of UTIs, such as blocked kidneys (UPJ obstruction), kidney stones, or tumors.  After that evaluation, we look at anatomic issues of the bladder.  In short, rather than treat UTIs time and time again, we look at the entire urinary system for easily treatable causes prior to initiating antibiotic therapy.
